The Shirelles were the first all girl group of the Rock and Roll Era to score a number one record! Few performers can truly be called trendsetters. Fewer still can sustain a high-visibility presence in the pop culture consciousness for over 40 years. Rock & Roll Hall of Fame members, The Shirelles have done these things and more. They have earned their exalted place in modern musical history.
Beginning in 1958 as schoolgirls in Passaic, New Jersey, The Shirelles quickly became rock & roll's first female supergroup and were the inspirations for a legion of female groups that followed.
They are universally credited as the originators of the Girl Group Sound that is so beloved by the Baby Boomer generation. Their long string of hits, including Soldier Boy, Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow, Dedicated To The One I Love, Mama Said, and so many others, have been recorded by hundreds of artists, including The Beatles, Dionne Warwick, Aretha Franklin, Eric Clapton & The Yardbirds, The Mamas & the Papas, Bernadette Peters and Smokey Robinson.

The Mahoney Brothers consists of three brothers, Tim (bass, keyboards, guitar, drums, vocals), Brian (guitar, keyboards, saxophone, flute, clarinet, harmonica, mandolin, vocals), and Mike (guitar, drums, percussion, recorder, vocals) all originally from Hamilton Square, NJ. The Brothers began performing professionally in the late 1970's as a backup band to regional country singer Mickey Starr.
By 1978, they had been hired to perform with the Broadway production Beatlemania and spent six months with the show. After Broadway, the Mahoney Brothers produced their own Beatles tribute show "Long Live the Beatles". Both a critical and professional success, this show has been performed throughout the USA (35 states) and Canada (six provinces) for two decades. Highlights of their Long Live the Beatles show were engagements at Six Flags Great Adventure, Six Flags Over Texas, Veteran's Stadium in Philadelphia, PA, the Omni International in Miami, Fl, the Canadian National Exposition, (Toronto and Ottowa) and King's Casino in Aruba. Several dozen television appearances ensued including CBS National News, Entertainment Tonight and Atlantic City Alive on the superstation TBS.

The Riverdale Summer Concerts are held at Freedom Park, Dalton Drive, which is off of Post Lane, which is U-Shaped connecting the Paterson Hamburg Turnpike and the Newark Pompton Turnpike. Because of limited parking it would be wise to park at various sites along the Newark Pompton Turnpike, such as the Municipal Building, Golden Sakura Restaurant, Darmofalski Engineering, the Riverdale School and the side streets. A shuttle bus will start picking people up around 7:00 and continue to about 7:45 PM. And, of course, the shuttle will bring you back to your cars.
Don't forget to bring a lawn chair or blanket to relax on; we do have some folding chairs, but not enough to accomodate everyone. Food vendors are on site if you wish to purchase refreshments. Enjoy!
